Hennessy said one vehicle was responsible for hitting three others.

“It was the same vehicle that struck one [vehicle] at Dartmouth Crossing. It traveled up the 102, striking another one and finally a third vehicle and ended up in the ditch,” Hennessy said.

The vehicle police say is responsible rolled several times before ending up in the ditch off the 102 near Miller Lake, where the 102 and 118 meet.

“The windows are all smashed out and there’s substantial front end damage as well,” said Stephen Comeau with Halifax Regional Fire.

Hennessy said the 64-year-old female driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

She said the other drivers and passengers in the other three vehicles were not injured.

The other vehicles only sustained minor damage, such as scratches and dents.

There is no word yet on what caused the multiple collisions.

Hennessy said it was too early to speculate on whether the 64-year-old driver will face any charges.

The vehicles were towed away. One lane of Highway 102 was shut down while emergency crews attended the scene. It was re-opened around 8 p.m.
